Smart People Start A Part-Time Home Business For Extra Income

Sunday 30 September 2007 @ 5:09 pm

by Sheila Nelson
You need more money to buy your children new school clothes, you need more money to help pay your monthly bills, or you need more money to help pay off your credit card debt. So want do most people do when they need more money? Most people think about looking for a part-time job when they need more money to supplement their income.

Is a part-time job really the answer? When you leave your full-time job and you need to rush to get to your part-time job, your time becomes very limited for yourself and your family. It will be hard to cook or have a good home cooked meal for you and your family until you have a day off of at least one of those jobs. Your family and friends will hardly ever see you. You and your spouse will be like strangers passing during the night. Having a part-time job will take away most of your free time. Eventually you will get tired of working two jobs, and you will most likely quit the part-time job. Then you will be back in the same situation you were in before you got the part- time job. Unfortunately, working one job for most people means living paycheck to paycheck or being just over broke, and working a part-time job for extra income is only a temporary solution for the problem.

It is much smarter to look for a part-time home business opportunity that you can start for a permanent solution to extra income. You can start your part-time home business working from home. A lot of people are working from home now. You may know some people right now who are doing it. If you work part-time from home, you can work around your other responsibilities and activities, and you can also still be there for your family. Your earning potential will be much greater so having your own part-time home business could eventually free you from your full-time job which is not paying you enough money anyway. Your part-time home business could eventually give you more time freedom to spend with your family, travel or whatever you want to do with your time besides work.

You do not have to worry about finding a product or service to sell because there are lots of companies offering legitimate part-time business opportunities and they will also train you. You just need to find the company you want to work with that has a product or service that you like and believe in. Once you have found a company that you may want to work with, try out their products or services first. If you like the products or services and you believe the company is sound and stable after doing your research, the next thing to do is apply to become a distributor. You will need to pay the required fee to get started which is normally a small amount of money. Some part-time home business opportunities cost as little as $10 to $100 to get started. You may need to purchase some products, and then you are in business. You should work closely with your sponsor so you can learn the companies system for the best results.

Once you get started with your part-time business, go to the trainings and learn as much as possible about your company and your products. Attend as much training as possible. You can also attend any out source trainings you may find interesting because they can also be helpful for growing your business. If your goal is to eventually quit your job and work your business full-time, give your business time to grow before you start thinking about quitting your job. You should never quit your job and jump into a business especially if you do not have any prior experience of running a business. Keep your full-time job until you are sure the money is coming in to pay the bills, and you feel comfortable quitting your job.

What Is Your Why?

Sunday 30 September 2007 @ 5:09 pm

by Sheila Nelson
It has been said by many industry leaders over and over again to succeed in your home base business you need to have a big “WHY”. Your reason why you want to work from home is very important. If your reason why doesn’t make you cry, it is not big enough. If you do not have a big why, you probably do not have what it takes to stick and stay with your home base business. As soon as business gets stuff, you will probably quit if your reason why is not big enough. It will be too easy for you to give up because you do npt have a big why to go through the hard times. Believe me. There will be hard times. All businesses have them so will your home base business.

So lets talk about some reasons why you may want to work from home. You may want to be a stay at home mom so your children don’t have to go to daycare or to someone elses home while you are working. Most new moms would love to be a stay at home mom for this reason. They hate to think about leaving their new baby with someone else to care for them so they could go back to work. You may want to be a stay at home mom so you can home school your children, or just be there to raise them and be there whenever they need you.

You may want to quit your job or fire your boss. There are a lot of reasons you may want to quit your job. Maybe you hate your boss, hate your job or both. Maybe you are tired of the traffic and drive time to and from work, or maybe you want to retire early so you can start traveling more. Maybe you just can not see yourself working a job until you are what they call retirement age. Who said you have to be 65 or older to retire? Retirement has nothing to do with age. It has to do with money. If you work a home base business, you could make much more money than any job could ever pay you. The income is unlimited!

Another reason you may want to work from home is to spend more time with your family members. You may need to take care of an elderly parent, sick spouse or child. Working from home could give you the opportunity to work on your own schedule so you could do these things while working. Whatever your reason why you want to work from home may be is it big enough that it makes you cry? I mean real tears!

Before or immediately after you start your home base business, sit down and write out the reasons why you want to work from home. Make a list of all the advantages you would personally have by working from home and prioritize your list. Write until it makes you cry. When you’re done with your list, post it somewhere so you can see it and read it often, like on your refrigerator, or a wall, or on your bedroom or bathroom mirror. If you look at your reasons why often, it will help you go through the hard times with your home base business and help you stay focus on succeeding with your home base business. Know your why.

Leverage Is Everything In Your Home-Base Business

Sunday 30 September 2007 @ 2:09 pm

by Sheila Nelson
If you are not consistently enrolling new distributors in your home-base business, you are not creating a business that could set you financially free. Building leverage is the key to success in any business including your home-base business. Leverage is using the efforts of other people (OPE — Other Peoples Efforts) to help grow your business. When you have leverage in your business, you can gain time freedom and become financially free.

Here is an example of having leverage in your home-base business. Lets say your company pays you $100 whenever you personally make a sale, and your company also pays you $10 on every sale made from someone on your team. Now $10 does not sound like much but what if you had 100 people on your team and 20 of them make a sale. That is 20 sales and you get $10 for each one which gives you $200 earned from other peoples efforts. One of the best parts about this is you had nothing to do with the sales. You probably were not even there when the sales were made but you received a check for them. How awesome is that!

This is what we call passive income or surprise money in network marketing. You made $100 on your own efforts and $200 on the efforts of other people. It is not uncommon to make more money in passive income than your own personal sales when you have leverage. This type of income can become very, very lucrative, would not you agree? You can only earn passive income if you have leverage in your business; therefore, you must always be enrolling new distributors to build the kind of income you desire for you and your family.

Building leverage does not happen over night. You will find that you have to work hard your first couple of years in your home-base business before you start seeing a nice passive income. But over time if you keep building, that is adding new distributors, you will start having more money and more time to enjoy it as your sales force gets larger. You would have also taught your new distributors to build leverage as well so you will have more people building besides yourself. Wow! Now that is true leverage and duplication. Your business will be well on its way to creating the freedom and life style you and your family may want and deserve.

Home Businesses - Main Reasons Why They Fail

Sunday 30 September 2007 @ 11:09 am

by Sergris
You’ve decided to run your own home business but before you start, learn why most of them fail, and avoid making the same mistakes. With the necessary knowledge, discipline and a sensible plan, your work from home business will be successful.

We all make mistakes while running a home business. The minor ones can be easily corrected, but the major ones could lead to the failure of your home based business. The following are the main causes of home business failures:

1. Choosing the wrong type of business — Nothing will cause you more frustration, waste of time and money than choosing a business you don’t like or one that requires skills you don’t have. Find a line of work you love and where you can excel using your own natural talents.

2. Lack of the necessary knowledge — You need to learn all you can about your product or service and what you need to set up your business. Do a research about your competition and things such as marketing, software, equipment, working capital needed and budgeting, health insurance etc.

3. Lack of Planning — You need at least a basic idea of the steps you need to follow to develop and succeed in your work at home business. Your planning must be based on reliable and current information. If you have questions or need direction, read articles, books, or find a sponsor to help you with guidance.

4. Lack of Discipline — Discipline and consistency necessary are absolutely necessary to be successful in any business. This also includes being organized and willing to sacrifice. Organize your time and activities so you can perform them on a regular basis. Also be willing to sacrifice time, money, and effort, especially at the beginning. All of these will pay big dividends later on.

5. Lack of Patience — Provided you do your part, you need at least one year before your work at home business starts showing some decent signs of success. Read the success stories of highly successful people and see how many became successful in a few weeks or months.

6. Falling Prey to a Business Opportunity Scam — Most of these so called “opportunities” are either total scams, or you work hours upon hours with little or no results. You need to make an informed, not an emotional decision for your home based business. See our recommendations for truly Legitimate Home Based Businesses.

7. Lack of a Website — In today’s world, a web site is a must business tool, and a low-cost investment compared to its potential. It’s the best and easiest way to show your products and services and reach millions of customers worldwide 24/7 365 days a year. Most of your competition has a web site, and not having it is like trying to compete with a hot dog stand across from a McDonald’s.

These are only some of the main reasons why most home businesses fail. Although there are always risks associated with any business, you can reduce them by continually seeking the necessary knowledge and putting the required effort to succeed. The Internet has an infinite supply of FREE information available; use it to your advantage.

Home Business - Providing Your Personal Services on the Internet

Sunday 30 September 2007 @ 11:09 am

by Sergris
Everybody is so busy nowadays that this is a great time to start an Internet business providing your personal services. Your knowledge and experience may be so valuable to other people that they would be willing to pay for it. When you have the necessary skills, this is not a complicated business. However, if you want to avoid frustration, disappointments, wasted time and possible failure, you need to learn or prepare a plan.

First, you need to determine what are your talents and the line of work you love the most. Then you need to find an appropriate niche within your field. Think of a service you can provide that is not oversaturated. After you choose an area you’d like to specialize in, do an online research to find out how much competition you’re going to have.

One of the big advantages of this opportunity is that you don’t need a big dollar investment to offer your personal services on the Internet. Also, you can easily communicate your knowledge and make it available to your prospects or clients.

Create a Web page describing your skills, knowledge and experience. Use your site not only to sell and promote your services but also to place plenty of resources for your visitors. This will keep them coming back frequently. Marketingtips.com has great information to help you market your Internet business successfully.

To get clients locally, your local Chamber of Commerce is a great source for networking and referrals. Most chambers of commerce now welcome home-based businesses. You may also consider offering free services to friends and family members in exchange for reference letters. These letters will build your credibility and are worth their weight in gold.

E-mail is one of the best marketing tools to improve your internet business. Become an expert and you’ll increase your contacts and will get new sources of support. You can do this by checking your e-mail as often as possible and responding to inquiries promptly. It’s also critical that you always provide good customer service and maintain contact with your online clients.

Here are a few personal services ideas to consider for your work at home business:

Virtual Assistant - These services include: Word processing, desktop publishing, human resources functions, database management, sales and marketing support, web design and development, audio recording and editing and employee data management.

Personalized Theme Basket - You need to be artistic and creative. For more ideas go to polkadotpackages.com

Create E-Books - It’s basically a PDF file about a subject you know well in exchange for money instantly. You can write about any topic. For more ideas go to 7dayebook.com

Garage Sales for Online Profits - Find inexpensive items at garage sales and post them on eBay. You can find more ideas at thequeenofauctions.com.

With a personal services home business you’re doing something you really enjoy and preparing the ground to quit your current job or to radically improve your financial future. Your efforts, persistence and continuous learning will determine your success.

Your Home Business Demands an Exclusive Niche

Sunday 30 September 2007 @ 11:09 am

by Sergris
There are many lucrative ideas to choose from, but the first and most essential step in finding a niche for your home business is selecting an activity that you totally love and where you can apply your natural talents. Selecting the right niche will save you headaches, time, money and effort.

Once you determine your passion and skills, identify your general category and sub-category. Let’s say your passion is writing, so this would be your general category. Let’s also say you have a particular interest in computers, so writing computer related articles would be your sub-category. Make a list of your skills and interests and another list of business ideas that require those skills and interests.

Now that you’ve listed some evaluated ideas, do some research to select those that you think have the greatest potential. You research should answer questions such as: Is there a market need for it? What sets it apart from the competition? Is the market oversaturated? Is the price competitive and profitable?

Although finding a unique niche should be a careful process, remember that whatever business you choose, you don’t have to start from scratch. Just ask yourself what specific need can I fill? How can I do it differently or better than others? What type of improvements would you make on the products or services you use? Or what products or services would improve your life? Would they be better, cheaper, easier to use?.

Let’s look at an example. A young man, tired of having pizza during the office lunch hour, found out that this restaurant was the only one around delivering food. His light bulb went on and decided to start a restaurant delivery business with items such as submarine sandwiches and salads. His business took off and eventually he quit his job and later opened a second restaurant on a different location.

This idea wasn’t that unique or complicated. He simply discovered a need and took the necessary actions to fulfill it. One way of finding a great niche for your home business is listening to the complaints from people around you and your own.

With a more specific home business niche, you should also read journals, magazines, books, etc. about your chosen field to get an edge over your competition.

Finding the right niche for your home business is a step by-step procedure that requires time and effort, but the rewards are worth it. Starting any business involves some risk, but what in life doesn’t. However, there’s a big difference between foolish risks and planned ones. When you carefully examine what you’re doing, get enough knowledge about your field, and make a constant effort, you’re not only reducing your risk, you’re drastically increasing your chances of success.

Work at Home: Avoid Scams

Sunday 30 September 2007 @ 11:09 am

by Chris Stackhouse
Unfortunately, the Internet is full of Work at Home Scams. Fortunately, the Internet is also full of legitimate Work at Home opportunities! This article will hopefully provide you with the knowledge so that you can detect the legitimate opportunities from the frauds.

The first thing that caught me off guard when I began searching for online work is that most opportunities were charging me money to work for them! I thought these were surely scams. The truth is, many legit opportunities require some sort of administration fee to begin working. Although this is not typical in traditional offline work, it is fairly normal in online work.

I will explain why this is normal with a common example. Filling out surveys is a common way to earn money online. As an individual, you are welcome to try and contact all the major marketing companies around the world, and tell them that you are willing to take part in their market research. In order to be able to make any money at filling out surveys online, you would have to sign up with hundreds of marketing companies to make it worth your time. This would result in hundreds of hours of administrative work. Alternatively, you can join a paid survey site that has already established links with hundreds of marketing companies, helping you avoid the hundreds of hours of work it would take to setup. This is where the charge comes in - for access to their network of marketing companies that they have already established, they will charge you a monthly fee.

A little long winded, but the point is, paying money to join different programs does not necessarily mean that it is a scam or fraud.

So how do you find out if it is a scam or fraud? There are a couple of ways. First of all, look at the contact information that the offer provides you with. Can you call someone or email someone? Speaking to real people and asking questions about their program will help validate its legitimacy. Ask how long they have been around, how many people currently work for them, and if they have any money back guarantees. Most legitimate companies will respond to your questions, and will have money back guarantees.

Do a search in a major search engine using the offer name plus the word “scam. ” See if there are any pages that people have put up warning that the program is scam. Be weary of what you are reading, as you might just be reading a competitors webpage that is trying to get you to join their program instead. Of course, if you are finding lots of results and messages boards of people claiming that the program you are interested in is a fraud, you should probably stay clear of it!

Finally, search the internet for work at home message boards, where people like yourself post messages and share stories about their experiences with different work at home opportunities. Not only will this help you avoid scams, but may help you find other legitimate work at home opportunities that you did not know about!

After reading this, I am hoping that you are now more comfortable in choosing your work at home opportunities, with the knowledge of how to better spot a scam. The biggest thing to remember is that scams do exist, and to take your time and do your research when signing up for different work at home opportunities.

Home Business - Wasted Time in Your Business Will Cost You Money!

Sunday 30 September 2007 @ 11:09 am

by Sergris
No doubt, working from home gives you a lot of time flexibility but be careful because the time you waste in your home business will cost you money. One thing is being able to move your schedule around and another is to lose focus, become disorganized and waste valuable time. Time is an asset and you can either benefit from it or waste it.

“Time can make you money, but money can’t buy you time”

The income you receive today is the reward to the previous use of your time and effort. In order to maximize your rewards you need to maximize the use of that time and effort.

When you learn to work smarter and more efficiently your time and effort will multiply ten-fold consequently, you’ll accomplish more. To better manage your time you need to get organized in your business as well as your personal schedules and activities.

Here are a few and simple tips so you have an easier time remembering and applying them.

• Determine all the tasks to be done - Make a list of all the activities required for your personal and business life.

• Prioritize your activities — List them in order of importance so you can devote more attention to your most urgent tasks. This will help you lessen the work stress.

• Establish a personal and business schedule — Do your business errands during business hours and personal ones during personal or family time. To avoid interfere between the two, make an agreement with your family to respect your business hours and in return you’ll respect the family time.

• Divide high and low productivity times - Are you a morning or an evening person? Your most important activities should be done when you’re more productive, and the least important ones when you’re less productive.

• Schedule fun/break time — Remember to have some fun and rest so you can perform your best in your home business. During this time do things you really enjoy.

• Hire help if necessary — When there’s too much work to handle yourself and you’re too stressed out, ask for or hire temporary help until you can go back to a workload you can handle.

Wasted efforts and wasted time will cost you money. On the other hand, when you have a system and follow it regularly, at the end of each day you will not only feel like you’ve accomplished something, you’ll know you have and your profits will prove it.

Home Business - Ideas to Promote Your Website for Free!

Sunday 30 September 2007 @ 10:09 am

by Sergris
You don’t have to spend money to advertise your home based business. Here are some effective ideas to advertise your website at no cost to you. Take the time to learn them and apply them correctly. This is a perfect example of that old saying “knowledge is power” — when properly applied.

If you’re serious about your success, get an excellent and reputable company to build and host your website. (I believe the best one in quality and price is SiteSell). This is the foundation of your business, so you’d better start on the right foot.

These ideas to promote your website with no money may take some time but they do work:

Write Articles — It’s one of the best ways to rank high in search engines and send traffic to your site. Write articles about your area of expertise and distribute them to as many article directories and editors as possible as free content for their newsletters or websites. Provide a link to your website and a brief description of your product or services.

Publish an E-zine — Publishing a monthly or biweekly E-mail newsletter takes regular effort and commitment but in time you’ll see the great benefits. It will help you to keep in touch with your prospects, develop trust, create future business, and get a valuable list of contacts.

Post in Forums — Find popular forums in your niche and post messages that link back to your site. Go to alexa.com and type the forum’s website address into the traffic ranking box. Look for rankings of 50,000 or lower, which means lots of visitors. Post regularly on many different forums. You’ll also acquire great knowledge and valuable help.

Directories — Search the Internet for Seo friendly directories where you can submit your website. Submit on a regular basis a few times a day.

Free E-zine Ads — Most e-zines allow new subscribers to post free ads.

Include your URL — This is one of those effective ideas to promote your website for free that is easy and simple, but often overlooked. Place your URL on stationary, business cards, flyers, etc.

Ask Visitors to Bookmark Your Site — Don’t forget to ask your visitors to bookmark your site on their list of favorites.

YellowPages.com — This is a well recognized company that has different levels of listings, but the most basic is FREE!

Some of these methods will take longer than others to produce results. Also, some of them will be more effective, business wise, than others. The key factor for you to remember, is to be creative and consistent. These are important seeds to plant for the success of your work from home business.
