So, you want to start a home business, but after reading all the statistics about the number of home businesses that fail have you frightened about the prospect of failure. It has often been noted that a failure to plan is a plan to fail and when starting a home business, this is especially true. Understanding the product or service, understanding the available market and understanding your own strengths and weaknesses can take some of the fear out of starting your own home business.
Before starting your own home business, you will need to have a thorough understanding of the product or service you will be offering. Consider if it will be a business based out of your home or one that will be conducted in the home. Many professional services are prime opportunities for home businesses, such as accounting, financial planning and billing, with customers and clients visiting your home business or with you traveling to meet with clients.
Other professional services offer at home business opportunities such as transcription services or billing operations, in which information is emailed to the home and the completed work is electronically returned. There is very little personal contact involved and all transactions are performed through the Internet. Being able to perform the functions without the need for help and advice from others is the most important aspect of taking some of the fear out of starting your own home business.
Before you sell any product or service, you will need an understanding who your customers will be, as well as how to reach them. Leaving your family and friends out of the equation, you should ask to whom you will make the first sale. This may start as a theory about who will need your product or service, but narrowing it down and putting a name to the first customer will take a lot of the apprehension out of starting your home business.
You should then be able to consider where the following customers will come from and this should be part of information you gathered in determining there is a market for your business. When you start to draw up your list of future customers, as the list grows longer the amount of fear you may be feeling about starting your own business will begin to fade.
Simply stating, “I can do this,” is not the same as identifying your weaknesses and strengths. Before starting a home business you have to objectively assess your abilities and where the lack of any ability will become a liability to the success of your business. Sometimes it hurts, but being brutally honest with you can save a lot of aggravation in the future. Recognizing weaknesses can help them be overcome and add to the chance of success.
If one of the strengths you list states you are a ‘people person’ write down what that means. You may surprised that your best efforts are executed when you work alone. Once you have identified your good points and those that need improvement, there should be little terror is starting your own home business.

Do you have a schedule for your home business? If not you will need one. Running a home business is a challenging task. Running any type of business is a challenge. In order to succeed you will need to work in order to build your home business. Time management is key. Self discipline is a must when running your home business. It is very easy to get sidetracked when running a home business. Many home business owners end up not succeeding in their home business because of bad time management. You must have the discipline to create a daily schedule for yourself and then stick to that schedule daily, until your schedule becomes a routine. The whole key in creating a schedule for yourself is to make your work ethic into a habit. Once your work ethic is a habit you will be well on your way to succeeding in your home business.
Many people believe they have a great work ethic and they probably do have a great work ethic. But running a home business is different than working a job. First it is your business, you will not have anyone looking over your shoulder telling you to do this or so that. You will not have anyone to answer to except yourself. Which is why you must hold yourself accountable. I am willing to bet 90 percent of all home business owners follow this or a similar routine. Wake up and go to work. Get home and turn on the television and put off working on their home biz until tomorrow. Guess what, tomorrow they follow the same routine and put off working their home business until the following day. Then the weekend rolls around and instead of working on their home business they decide to put it off until Monday. Then their routine becomes a habit and they quit their home business believing home businesses do not work. You see that is the main difference between successful home business owners and unsuccessful home business owners. Successful business owners actually work their businesses daily, until it becomes a routine and then a habit. Successful home business owners form great work habits and unsuccessful business owners form bad work habits. One thing you will notice with unsuccessful people in general is they always have one million and one excuses on why the job is not getting done. Oh I was tired from work, it was the season finale of “Dancing With The Stars” and the list goes on…Winners just get the job done period. Unsuccessful people also have another common trait, they tend to blame everyone else except themselves for their problems.Winners take full responsibility for their actions and learn from their mistakes.
Setting up a schedule for your home business is the easy part. Do what works for you best. I like to take care of all of the home business work I hate doing in the morning. Do what works best for you. But remember having a home business schedule is pointless if you do not practice it daily.

Do you see an opportunity or a failed business when you see a bed & breakfast location on the market? Initially, you may see it either way depending on what your interests are in the place. You need to proceed with caution though as this could be a good opportunity to enjoy a bed & breakfast business that you can purchase for a very low price. It can also be a money drainer instead of a money maker so take your time to discover which one it is.
Get to the root of the reason why it closed down as this will tell you a lot. Is the property in bad condition and the owner couldn’t afford the repairs? Is the location so poor that it is inconvenient for people to stay there? Maybe the style of the bed & breakfast was too plain or the service just wasn’t there. In order to offer a good bed & breakfast you have to love what you are doing. If your only motivation is to make some money it is going to be noticeable to your guests.
If the issue is with the look of the bed & breakfast or the quality of the service, you can definitely make improvements in these areas. The location you can’t do anything about so you should pass up the opportunity. You need to make sure the foundation of the bed & breakfast is sound though because this is going to be a very costly endeavor to level the ground.
The landscaping for the front of the bed & breakfast needs to look very inviting. You can add a colorful flower garden and even some swings for the front porch. Inside you need to make sure everything is looking good. If there is wall paper peeling then replace it. You can also dramatically soften the look of the establishment by adding some sheer curtains and some wall mirrors.
Many times you will want to do changes in the kitchen as well. This is a vital room of the home for your business operations. Make sure you have enough room to make food, seat your guests, and that the atmosphere is very nice. Adding a new lighting system or a gorgeous chandelier can be a great way to give it a new look. You can change the counters and paint the cabinets as well.
After you have the bed & breakfast all ready to go, you need to take some great photos. Make sure you get various angles and that you cover both the inside and the outside of the business. You are going to have to create a desire for people to want to stay there. You will also want to appeal to those that have gone before but have no intention of going back.
You are going to have to prove that you are worth them checking out for themselves. Advertise your new bed & breakfast heavily and make sure all of that information includes that you are a new business and new ownership. Simply stating the bed & breakfast has undergone improvements isn’t enough.
Don’t forget to advertise your bed & breakfast online too. You definitely want to reach potential customers that will be coming to town for business, fun, or to visit other people. Pay close attention to the online reviews that your business gets from consumers. They will help you to see what you are doing right and where you need to tweak a few things.
Patti Rob has some new, profitable ideas for starting a Bed and Breakfast. This information might give you a foot up when you consider owning a B&B.

Although there are a lot of compensation plans around and available to all. It is my hope to establish an educational explanation why all compensation plans are not right for you.
What I find intriguing about this, maybe even quite bizarre is about two years ago, I had never heard of compensation plans. As I journeyed through my quest to find the right network marketing company I stumbled across an offer I couldn’t refuse.
It was an invitation for free training and mentoring in network marketing. By tuning into the weekly training calls offered I not only learned about compensation plans, I was educated on business models, personal development and so much more.
So today I’m delighted to share with you and enlighten you on the different types of compensation plans and how choosing the right plan will make the difference in your networking success.
A compensation plan is basically the baseline of how you as a representative in a company will be paid. Let’s examine a few of the more popular ones. As I stated before, there are a lot of different plans but today I will touch on only a few.
Unilevel plan-You will find a unilevel pays on unlimited width, still it is more common for companies with this plan to only allow you to get paid 3-5 levels deep. Yet you can build as wide as you choose to.
Binary plan-Choosing a binary plan, pay-outs are made weekly, and you will be paid on volume. In most cases binary plans are much harder to build. Bi means two, which also means two legs will have to be built. You will only get paid if the legs are balanced out. This is something to be very aware of.
Stairstep Breakaway plan-In this plan it is like you are more on your own in the business. By that I mean your upline won’t be offering much help or support to you in business, simply because they are aware if you reach a certain level before they are
ready for you to, they will lose you. You breakaway from them. Now, with some stairsteps, upline may still receive a small percentage on all of their group. If that’s the case then you may receive some support from them.
Aussie One-Up & Aussie Two-Up-In an Aussie when you sponsor your first and your second depending upon if its an one up or two-upyou are required to give away your first one or your first twoto your enroller. That can’t be a good feeling. The outcome will be that the others that you might bring in will have to do the exact same thing. Their giveaway will then benefit you.
There are other plans such as Matrix and so forth. The ones named above are probably the most used ones. They all have some good and bad within them. A great compensation plan would be a hybird plan. One that consist of the good in all comp. plans and leaving out the worst.
How can you know if a compensation plan is right for you?
I would say by the answer you receive to the question asked “How many people do you need in your organization that’s on a monthly autoship, to earn $10,000 a month?”
Let’s do a little comparison. We will call them company A and company B In company A you will need 2,500 people on a $120.00 monthly autoship to make $10,000 a month.
In company B you only need 400 people on a 100 point, which totals around $160 per autoship to make $10,000 a month. Now which company would you prefer to build? Clearly company B
would be built more easily.
These are some things to be aware of when you are evaluating companies and looking for the right one to be apart of. As you can see the right compensation plan will make the difference in your success. Hopefully this has been beneficial in assisting
you on evaluating and getting to know about compensation plans.

Why pay for advertising space when you can advertise for free?
The word “Blog” is short for Web Log and is defined as an on-line journal, although they can be used for a variety of purposes.
Blogs are generally personal articles written by anyone who wants to publish something for the world to see. They can be news, opinions, product reviews, messages or anything else as long as it’s your own work and it doesn’t promote anything illegal (Check the T&C of the particular site). Most blogs are mainly text, but sometimes they include photos, artwork, videos and sound. After your particular blog is published, readers have the ability to leave comments interactively.
If used correctly, blogs can be a great way to advertise and promote your business and/or website for free. Popular blogging sites draw in millions of potential customers every day and there are plenty to choose from.
7 ways to ensure your blog is successful:
1. Make sure your blogs have a good title, this is very important as it often decides the success or failure of the blog. Asking a question in the title is one good way of attracting interest, Eg. Are you lonely? Discover a brand new dating experience.
2. Make sure your blog is well written, as unique as possible, to the point and try to be entertaining. Good quality blogs gain your readers respect.
3. Keep your blogs up to date and write new ones regularly.
4. Don’t oversell your product as this has a negative effect. Write about your chosen subject, then briefly describe how your product can assist.
5. Place comments about other peoples blogs relevant to your product.
6. Ask questions in your blog to encourage people to place comments.
7. Publish to as many popular blogging sites as possible for maximum exposure, see below for more information about how to achieve this.
Do you want to publish and update blogs on all major sites in one go?
There are numerous blogging sites available and to gain maximum exposure, it’s a good idea to publish blogs on as many as possible. The problem is this can create an enormous amount of tedious, repetitive work. There are that many sites out there, it’s too much work to publish to them all, unless want to employ an office full of people. You’d be hard pressed to find somebody who would admit to NOT wanting to be able to earn a living out of their own homes. What’s not to like? No rushing in the morning, no traffic jams, road rage, child care expense, wardrobe costs, the list that never ends. Any wonder why most heart attacks occur on Mondays?
This isn’t about a work at home opportunity where you wait a long time to see decent money, either. Like promoting other peoples’ products and not getting paid until you actually make a sale. This isn’t about you creating your own products and selling them from home. Again, these businesses do not bring in money overnight.
Maybe you NEED to earn money at home because of a physical disability. Like the woman with severe arthritis who can’t sit for hours in an office. Or the computer-savvy disabled veteran. More and more each year, employees are looking for ways to make money at home. The emotional and financial costs are getting to them. They WANT to be able to work at home and earn their livings.
Now there is a way to earn money right from your own home. A real job. With an interview and hiring process. It may or may not be all done online, virtually. Companies are eager to hire customer service home based agents instead of traditional call centers. In this way, they get to choose who represents the company. Outsourcing to conventional centers didn’t provide them with any say.
These companies are impressed with the applicants. The workers who want to be home based are more motivated, productive, happy and better educated than they find in the traditional call center environment. This is sound business. Their customers are happy. So revenue goes up.
You may have already spoken to a home based agent when you booked a recent flight with Continental. Or American Airlines. The numbers of home based reservation agents will have a growth spurt in the next two years. When you called 1-800-FLOWERS, your happy-sounding agent may have taken your order from her basement office or bedroom!
There’s no stopping this trend, now going by the term, “homeshoring”. Thanks to advance technology and the advent of the internet, this home based employment trend is now a part of the 21st century!

Wouldn’t you want to be in a place where serenity reigns, where you can getaway from the bustling city life? Being in a zen-like state need not require you to be in recluse. A long trip is not necessary. Your outdoor space, with appropriate landscaping designs and construction, can be turned into your own version of paradise. One may be cynic with regard landscaping or lawn care maintenance, I don’t blame them. Probably they’ve encountered—first hand or otherwise—appalling service from overly priced landscape contractors. I believe that an individual must not limit himself because of bad experience. If you don’t want or can’t afford a professional to do the job, why not DIY? There are benefits when a person undertakes landscaping project. In the succeeding paragraphs, I’ll enlighten you concerning this topic.
One must realize that landscaping is an art—an art linking an individual with Nature. A person understanding each curve and each slope; emphasizing the same through meticulous placement of ornaments like patio, lighting, water works and alike. Thus making beautiful partnership with the surroundings. This is landscaping at its best.
Home improvement or in our case, landscaping will certainly increase the market value of the house. One may hire lawn care services to address needs like tree care, weed and pest control to name a few. Just like a homeowner who’ll hire a painting contractor to rejuvenate a dull interior. Though proper assessment is considered necessary (as always). You cannot simply plant an exotic flower just because that part of the lawn has no flora. This is a no-no. Probably the soil is barren or that part receives too much sunlight or no sunlight at all, that’s why not one plant grows in said area. One must learn what these particular plants need.
Another no-no is to overly decorate and excessively crowd landscaping. Not only will the plants suffocate, the forest that is your yard or lawn will figuratively gobble your house. When doing such project, one must visualize every dimension of the house. Installing a pond or a patio may look good when viewed from afar but looks subpar when seen upclose. Remember, Rome was not built in a day. Same applies to your landscaping design and construction. Take time to select your plants, ornaments and fixtures. These are not mere displays, these are present to highlight what you currently have—-what Nature has provided you. Seasons change, plants’ behaviors—rarely do. Summertime is not really a good season to start planting. Fall or early spring, on the other hand, are seasons conducive to growing seedlings.
Landscaping benefits do not only rest on the monetary value that one will be reaping. More important than that, one may achieve solace within its borders. The sound of water from the makeshift waterfalls, the smell of flowers accompanied by the scene of the setting sun—these are things that’ll wash away the hurly-burly of the city life. And no amount of money can compare to this calming experience.
If you’re not comfortable with your landscaping skills, hire a designer or contractor. Just make certain that your personality will shine through their work (usually, they do.) Having an expert on your side just makes the project a lot easier physically but heavier in terms of funding.
Be it for ROI or for physical and mental rejuvenation, landscape design will surely bring the spark back in your outdoor space.

The success of your home business is built on four important cornerstones,
Skills - Mindset - Relationships - Environments
As you prepare for the journey ahead, set goals for yourself in each of these areas to ensure your business is built on a solid foundation and grows at an even keel.
1. Skills
What skills do you need to develop? Do you need to learn about marketing, sales, copywriting, communicating, technology, networking, organizing, presenting, leading or prioritizing?
Business leaders are master marketers and sales people. Regardless of your chosen field of endeavor, developing those two skills is absolutely critical to your success.
Of course, they don’t complete the recipe. Identify other important skills you’ll need and create a plan to start acquiring them.
2. Mindset
What disempowering beliefs block you from taking action, making decisions, having confidence and giving everything you’ve got to create the success and happiness you deserve?
You’re not alone if you’re fighting internal battles. Corporate executives, successful business owners and many professionals sabotage their potential to enjoy true happiness in all areas of life.
These challenges affect virtually everyone regardless of gender, nationality, religion, family status, socio-economic background or financial status, and more often than not link back to experiences from our youth.
How often have you sabotaged your efforts to grow beyond your wildest dreams or reach your higher vision for yourself?
It could be traced back to a statement made by an authority figure or someone you loved and could have been taken out of context because of your youth, or it may have been malicious in intent, but never dealt with completely because you haven’t had the tools to do it.
Mindset may be the biggest challenge to overcome, yet has the greatest impact on whether or not you achieve your goals and dreams.
3. Relationships
How are your relationships with yourself, family, friends, co-workers, customers and others?
Are you comfortable in intimate conversation or do you prefer groups? Do you have the confidence to approach a stranger and begin a conversation or do you try to become one with a nearby plant or wallpaper pattern hoping not to be noticed?
Do people know they can count on you to keep your word, make appointments on time and complete tasks as promised or do you over commit and under deliver?
Do people know they can trust you to keep conversations private and speak positively about them when they’re not present, or do you criticize others in conversation when they’re not there to defend themselves?
Battles with a spouse, siblings, parents, kids and friends can eat up mental ram and take your focus away from business. Sometimes these battles are with someone who has passed on, yet you keep the battle raging in your mind.
Positive relationships support you. Negative relationships, real or imagined create harm.
4. Environments
How are your environments supporting you?
Is your physical environment clear of clutter? This includes your home, office and vehicles. Are you surrounded by unhealthy foods or toxic substances? Do you have toxic people in your life who drain your energy?
What about your financial environment?
Can you accurately state how much cash flow you have, how much you bring in each month and how much is spent each month and on what?
Can you forecast upcoming expenditures and do you have a plan to meet them?
Do you know how to correctly interpret an income statement or balance sheet?
You may choose to have someone take care of your bookkeeping and accounting, but as a responsible business owner, it is imperative you understand what’s going on.
Your body is also an environment.
Does it receive adequate fuel (sleep and healthy food) and exercise? This environment provides energy, clear thinking, stamina, and mobility. Without this vehicle, you would not have a business … or life. Do you treat it with the respect and appreciation it deserves?
Do you need to learn about healthy eating, yoga, meditation, strength or stamina building exercises? Do you withhold visiting a doctor even though you’re experiencing discomfort or obvious symptoms of a health issue?
Without your body, the game is over.
The degree of your business (and life) success directly relates to the degree you invest in all four cornerstones.
Choosing to focus only on one, two or three leads to a lop-sided result — much like a four-legged chair with a missing leg. It can’t stand on its own.
In order to address these four cornerstones, you may have to read books, take courses or programs, join organizations, seek out mentors or coaches, find mastermind partners, and surround yourself with people who can provide you with what you need.
If cost is an issue, start with your local library and Internet searches. You’ll find plenty of helpful resources at zero cost. Tap into the minds of brilliant entrepreneurs and industry leaders. Learn about their challenges and follow their journey to success.
Contact a local business person you respect and ask if you can interview him. Most people say yes to this request because people generally like to help others.
You don’t have to try to eat the whole elephant in one bite. Start simple by selecting one or two areas to focus your attention on and create an action plan that allows you to spread your efforts evenly across the four cornerstones.
For example, you can start cleaning up your physical environment while checking a book out from the library on the subject of sales, marketing or improving personal relationships.
Or, you can enroll in a night course at your community college on the subject of financial intelligence and volunteer for a local organization once or twice a month to start building new relationships.
Your possibilities are limited only by your imagination and if you need help with that, find others to assist. Brainstorming is a powerful exercise.
Focus on these four cornerstones, commit to giving necessary attention and energy to each and your business will be built on a solid foundation and capable of exponential growth.
