Why is it that network marketers around the globe tremble at the thought of going online? And how can you be successful in a personal relationship business model without meeting anyone in person?
The basics of the network marketing business model are being tugged and pulled at. The very essence of the industry is being defined by the few that have moved their business online, proving that the internet can be the best place to gain relationships with others.
For me, once I caught on and had one of those light bulb “aha” moments, I felt embarrassed for not having seen it sooner (I actually felt stupid but I like the previous description better)
You see, it was right in front of me but I couldn’t see it at first. My wife started chatting with other like minded women on a bulletin board online, some 5 years ago. How personal can that be, right? Well, it turns out that if you’ve attracted the right crowd, it can be VERY personal. My wife’s group have since met once a year, helped each other through personal crisis and been there for one another these past 5 years. All of them say that these relationships are a lot more intense than they have in the “real” world.
And of course it is, because they all signed up for that bulletin board being like minded. It’s only natural for them to have such close ties. It’s a lot harder finding these people offline because they’re scattered geographically.
Well, imagine your target market for your business.
Now make the analogy to my wife’s online buddies.
Now do you get it? It’s so much easier to find your target market online than it is going around to your warm market harrasing your friends, family and anyone else on that sad 200 names list. Pending that you attract your target market correctly.
Just look at any network market business’s list of distributers. There are people that have said yes to the business from all over. They’re not just in one geography. They’re from Alaska, Nebraska, Spain, UK, Russia, Thailand, Japan, Australia, Poland. They’re from all over. How on earth can you manage that effectively if you’re in one place, physically speaking and you only know several hundred people at best?
No wonder 90% and more fail at network marketing.
Now I have to say that to me, the industry is a great one. I believe it’s the best opportunity for just about anyone to build a significant business with virtually no risk. But something has got to change in the way network marketing principles are implemented because the way it’s going now, 90% fail.
So what’s the answer? In short - going online. But of course you’ll need to know how to do it effectively. Even online there’s a right way to do things and a wrong way.
And there are other benefits for going online as well, but that’s for my next article.
